Cleanest Burger of All Time
This LABEL LETTER is to help you see that you can enjoy hearty foods and feel amazing...I am talking about a good old-fashioned burger. Such an American staple and so easy to make.
I read so many blogs about the nutritional differences in conventional meat (which is what you see at the grocery) versus pasture-raised meat.
I want to say so many things but it is tricky to get it all into such short-form content on Instagram which is why I LOVE this weekly detailed message. It is going to help you better understand clean eating.
Lets break down the burger from meat, bun to toppings. The meat is the most important because it can provide the most nutrition or be the most inflammatory.
Look at the noticeable difference I created for you below. This is why buying high quality meat matters. This is how the burger works for you and not against you.
What is a burger without a bun? If you want a bun, the cleanest bun is pictured below. Click this link and use code: WAKEUP for a special discount on the bread below.
Freeze it and toast it. You won't be bloated. Why? Because it is sprouted buckwheat - which removes all phytic acid. Those phytic acids are anti-nutrients. It is the plant's self defense mechanism.
Also, this company allows the bread to sit and ferment on its own -- nothing added to the process. This allows for much easier digestion in your belly. Plus, it tastes amazin'.
Cleanest Burger of All Time
Ingredients:
1 head of iceberg lettuce
1-2 grass-fed patties
Burger toppings: pickles (grillo's is best brand), tomatoes, red onion, avocado (if wanted) & this special sauce from Primal Kitchen
2 tbsp clean cheese (raw goat cheese or Dare or Montys )
apple cider vinegar & baking soda to wash all lettuce and vegetables
unbleached parchment paper for rolling
Directions:
Carefully cut iceberg lettuce in half and remove stalk.
Submerge with cold water + 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar and 1 tbsp baking soda to remove pesticides and dirt. After a few minutes, rinse then dry with paper towels or a kitchen towel. You can do this for tomatoes, too.
Cook 1-2 patties according to box directions. Chop finely with a knife when cooked. If using ground meat, season then cook in a pan over medium-high heat until no longer pink.
Take 2 pieces of lettuce (should look like a bowl) and place on top unbleached parchment paper.
Spread 2 tbsp cheese on lettuce first, if desired
Then, add 1-2 chopped patties (or ground meat) and toppings of your choice.
Fold sides of lettuce in slightly then roll the lettuce into a burrito - do the same to the parchment paper to hold it together.
See video below for direction on rolling.
Substitutions:
Lettuce substitues: Red or green leaf lettuce which work really well. Wash the same then use 2 pieces side-by-side with stalk together. Place an additional 2 pieces the other way with stalks overlapping like a bowl. You will grab one side of the lettuce and roll like a burrito. You could also use romaine as a base but it will not roll very well. May have to be a fork and knife situation
Bun Substitutes: Unbun buns can be found at the grocery. You could also bake keto biscuits
Patty Substitute: 1/2 lb. ground meat seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika (1/4-1/2 tsp each) or organic grass-fed beef from grocery
Onion substitutes: shallot, green onions, chives, sweet onion - any amount
Sauce Substitutes: anything Primal Kitchen, Chosen Foods regular mayo, any mustard made with simple ingredients
